Frequently Asked Questions
Can recessed lighting be added to an existing finished ceiling?
Yes. We use retrofit recessed fixtures designed specifically for installation in existing ceilings without major demolition. The process involves cutting small holes, fishing wire through the ceiling, and installing the fixtures — leaving the ceiling otherwise intact.
How many recessed lights do I need?
It depends on the room size, ceiling height, and fixture brightness. A common guideline is to space fixtures roughly the same distance apart as the ceiling height, but we assess each room individually and recommend a layout that provides even coverage without over- or under-lighting.
Should recessed lights be LED?
Yes. LED recessed fixtures use significantly less energy than incandescent equivalents and last far longer. We install LED fixtures as standard on all recessed lighting projects.
Do recessed lights work with dimmers?
Yes, but the dimmer switch needs to be compatible with the LED fixtures being used. We install LED-compatible dimmers as part of the project to ensure smooth, flicker-free dimming.
Can you match existing recessed lights in my home?
In most cases, yes. We assess your existing fixtures and select new ones that match in size and trim style so additional lights blend in with what's already there.
